About

Danielle Nelson

My approach to therapy is integrative, which means that I draw from a combination of several different evidence-based approaches, including Interpersonal Process Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I strive to create a warm therapeutic relationship, using humor, transparency, and emotion to connect with my clients. I believe that change emerges from strong and healthy relationships, self-awareness, and honest emotional expression. In my practice, I work to develop a strong therapeutic relationship that can provide an experience in which painful or previously unspoken topics can be explored in an emotionally safe space.

Therapy can identify lifelong patterns and provide an opportunity to reflect on how past experiences may be contributing to current concerns and how clients can adapt these patterns. I appreciate working collaboratively with clients to identify their hopes and strengths and develop strategies to live a life that feels meaningful.

More personally, I have spent most of my life in Oregon, and consider myself lucky to live in such a beautiful state. When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my husband and our dog, spending time outdoors in my garden, hiking, kayaking, and camping, or spending time indoors with a good book, exciting TV show, or improving my cooking skills.
